How tedious was the work for the art fest team last year? Lets ask the leader.
In the academic year of 2016-17, I was honored to be the visual arts leader of legacy school Bangalore. With that title came the opportunity to plan and organize the annual art fest that our school hosts, chiaroscuro. The theme of the event and the execution of it was all in my hands. I also had the help of my associate and also a few members of the student council that helped me throughout and should be given all the credit as I couldn’t have done it without them.
Chiaroscuro provides a platform for many schools and students to unleash their creative side, it gives them an excuse to draw, paint and even capture images. In this competition, the students are made to think out of the box and be different. To be able to give this experience to the participants we as organizers also had to be equally as creative, it allowed us to think inventively on how to make this experience worthwhile for our contestants.

As the visual art leader, I had to be the one to oversee all the processes, my associate and I came up with different ideas for the decorations, and we drew them out, and we had to see that our imagination was executed. I remember one meeting that I had with my director in which he told us that we shouldn’t be the ones executing the work, we should be the ones planning and then assigning the work to be executed which would have helped efficiency.
There was a lot of hard work put into the making of chiaroscuro. We had to stay back in school till quite late just to finish deadlines for that day. We had to give up all our free classes to preparing the decorations. We had many long meetings with our director, we called over 56 schools and spoke to the people in charge, it gave us the opportunity to network and contact field experts and artists to come and be judges and also host workshops. There were months of preparation that went into the art fest, and it all paid off at the end. I am so proud of all our efforts as the art committee of last year and was happy to see what a success the art fest was.
